RALEIGH, N.C. — More warm weather is on tap for Friday, but the spring-like temperatures will come with a chance for severe weather, WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said.

Highs on Friday will once again be in the 70s, but a cold front that is expected to move through during the evening will bring a line of thunderstorms that could be severe.

Wilmoth said the Triangle and points to the north and east will be under a Level 1 risk- on a scale of one to five- for severe weather Friday. The biggest threats include lightning and gusty winds.

The best chance for strong storms comes during the Friday evening commute, she said.

Following the storms, temperatures will drop into the 40s as the system moves out Friday night.

Saturday and Sunday will have high temperatures in the high 50s and lows in the mid-30s.
