Wanted man arrested after police chase across multiple counties ended in fiery crash
Police chased a man in a pick up truck across multiple county lines after an attempted arrest early Sunday morning.
Posted — UpdatedSampson County officials went to arrest a wanted man, and when they did, the man took off. He led deputies in his truck through the countryside in Harnett, Sampson and Johnston counties.
While fleeing, the man drove into a farmer's field and hit a clothes line. Once he did, his car ignited and was destroyed, according to officials.
A WRAL viewer from Johnston County, Amber Bridges, said she and her family woke up to the sound of emergency vehicles early Saturday morning. The man had driven through their front yard and hit their wooden clothes line pole, the witness said.
She said the car caught on fire on their property.
After the crash, officials were able to arrest the man in Johnston County on Woods Crossroads Road on Sunday at around 2 a.m. He was arrested with numerous charges, three of them being felony fleeing to elude arrest, careless and reckless driving and speeding.
No one was injured during the police chase.
The man was being held at the Sampson County Jail.
