RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake Technical Community College on Wednesday asked a student to pull his ad from Craigslist in which he offered to sell a seat in a class that is fully enrolled.

The unidentified 17-year-old student wanted to sell a seat in an American government class at Wake Tech's north campus on Louisburg Road in Raleigh. He said in the ad that he had registered but determined he could afford to pay the fee, and he wanted to raise money to pay for his other classes.

The student suggested meeting potential buyers in public where they could log onto separate computers simultaneously, allowing him to drop the class and the buyer to enroll.

"Please let your offers be pretty generous," the student implored in the ad.

Wake Tech officials talked with the student and his family Wednesday, and the post was removed from Craigslist a few hours later.
