The best of the best were honored at Wake County's Teacher of the Year Banquet.

Teachers of the Year from all 171 schools and their principals were there for the big announcement. Superintendent James Merrill had the honors of introducing Miles Macleod, an English/Global Studies teacher at Heritage High in Wake Forest as the winner.

Macleod gets a three-day stay in Myrtle Beach, a $1,000 check, office supplies, an Angus Barn gift certificate and $2,500 toward a study program in South Africa.
