Magnet schools
Because of the winter weather, Wake County Public School System has extended the magnet and year-round school application deadline for the 2018-19 school year to Feb. 5.

Because of the extended deadline, the school system also will need a few more days to make placements and notify families. Notifications will now be emailed on Feb. 19.

And, because of the weather, the school system also has rescheduled a magnet mini-fair, designed for families with rising kindergartners. It's now 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Jan. 24, at Washington Magnet Elementary School, 1000 Fayetteville St., Raleigh. It had been scheduled for this week, Jan. 17.
I updated the post that I wrote earlier this month about Wake's online application period with the new dates. It also has more information about the magnet application process, including five things parents need to know as they go through it.
