RALEIGH, N.C. — The Wake County school board voted Tuesday to give Superintendent Del Burns a 5 percent raise for the coming year.

A 3 percent increase was included in the four-year contract Burns signed last year, but board members agreed he deserved another 2 percent on top of that.

The board also extended the contract by one year.

With the raise, Burns will earn $262,500 a year.
