CARY, N.C. — A bus driver for the Wake County Public School System has been suspended after being charged with child sex crimes.

Todd Van Nguyen, 61, of 4205 Labrador Drive in Raleigh, was charged last week with three counts of indecent liberties with a minor. He was being held Friday in the Wake County jail under a $50,000 bond.

The alleged crimes occurred in May and involved someone under age 16, according to an arrest warrant. Raleigh police said the child wasn't a passenger on his bus.

Van Nguyen drives routes for a high school and two elementary schools, and school district spokeswoman Lisa Luten said he has been suspended without pay.

If Nguyen is released on bond, he is under orders to have no contact with anybody under age 18, including the alleged victim.
