Wake nuclear plant to test sirens
Regular, annual, full-volume tests of the alert sirens at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant begin Tuesday and will run Tuesdays through Thursdays through April 21.

NEW HILL, N.C. — Regular, annual, full-volume tests of the alert sirens at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant begin Tuesday and will run Tuesdays through Thursdays through April 21.
Residents living within 10 miles of the plant could hear a brief siren blast between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on those days, plant officials said.
The plant tests the 83 sirens on a rolling basis as annual maintenance is completed on each.
