Wake man hit by pickup, killed on way home from church
A Wake County man bicycling home from church Tuesday night was hit by a pickup and killed in Willow Spring, authorities said.
Posted — UpdatedThe crash occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on Dusty Winds Court near Mount Pleasant Church Road, authorities said.
Lee William Morel, 33, died at WakeMed. The pickup driver, William Denton, 34, of Apex, wasn't hurt.
Morel was volunteering at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, helping prepare for a barbeque later this week, and was a few houses away from his home when he was hit, authorities said.
Family members said he was on his bike because he had been having car trouble recently.
The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
