Wake man charged with murder returns to NC from VA
A Wake County man arrested on a murder charge in Southampton County, Va., was scheduled to return to North Carolina Wednesday afternoon.
Posted — UpdatedCOURTLAND, VA. — A Wake County man arrested on a murder charge in Southampton County, Va., was scheduled to return to North Carolina Wednesday afternoon.
Aaron Lance Stephen, 37, is charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Kelly D. Johnson, with whom he shared a home on Walking Stick Trail. He was arrested in Virginia, where Johnson's body was found in a wooded area in Branchville, just north of the NC state line.
He also faces a charge of concealing a dead body in Virginia.
Based on charges against Stephen, it appears that investigators believe he killed Johnson in Wake County. In the days after his arrest, investigators searched their home for evidence.
