Wake Forest schools locked down as police search for bank robber

Six Wake Forest schools were briefly locked down Wednesday afternoon following a bank robbery. Police are searching for a man who robbed a PNC branch on Rogers Road.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — Six Wake Forest schools were briefly locked down Wednesday afternoon following a bank robbery.

Heritage High School, Heritage Middle School, Wake Forest Middle School, Heritage Elementary School, Thales Academy and Thales Academy Elementary were locked down as a precaution while police searched for a man who robbed a PNC Bank branch at 3619 Rogers Road.

The lockdown was lifted about 1:15 p.m., according to Wake County public schools. But the man remained at large.

Wake Forest police said the man was wearing a navy blue zip-up running jacket, a white baseball cap and a white hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call Wake Forest police at 919-556-9111, or the FBI at 1-800-209-2293, or submit a tip through the FBI website.

The North Carolina Bankers Association offers a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of anyone involved.
