ZEBULON, N.C. — A Wake Forest man was charged Wednesday after he crashed into the back of a Wake County school bus on N.C. Highway 96 near Halifax Road at about 6:30 a.m.

Of the eight people on board bus No. 568, one was taken to WakeMed for observation. Five others reported minor, non-visible injuries, according to Sgt. Jeff Gordon and Wake County public schools spokesman Michael Evans.

The bus was traveling to Zebulon Middle School, Gordon said.

Christopher Trast, 47, of 1454 Cimarron Parkway Apt. 10, was charged with failing to reduce speed.

He crashed into the back of the school bus, which was stopped and had its mechanical stop sign and flashing red lights activated as it prepared to pick up a student, Gordon said.
