The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre has started a free, weekday family-friendly movie series.

Flix4Kidz will show G and PG-rated children's and family films at 10:30 a.m. on the second Monday of each month. In August, the center screened "The Lego Movie."

The next movie is set for Sept. 8. Other Mondays include Oct. 13, Nov. 10 and Dec. 8. Concessions, such as popcorn and soda, will be available for purchase.

Because of the licensing agreement for the movies, the center can't announce the movie to the general public. But you can get the name by calling the Special Events Hotline at 919-435-9428 or subscribing to the center's email updates.

I'm sure these screenings will be popular with parents of young kids; year-round school kids on track-out; and homeschoolers! The Renaissance Centre has some great programs for kids, including regular performance series.
