The Wake County Board of Education received 20 applications for the open position of Wake County Public School System superintendent. The deadline to apply was Jan. 30.
Applications were submitted to the North Carolina School Boards Association, which is the organization hired to facilitate the district’s search.
According to the association, the applicants are from 10 different states. The majority have experience as a superintendent.
The School Boards Association is currently processing the applications. All application materials are confidential under state law and will be made available to the board Friday.
The board will then have an opportunity to review the materials before meeting later in February to determine which applicants to interview
