RALEIGH, N.C. — Local hospitals, doctors officers and pharmacies are already vaccinating children ages 5 to 11 against coronavirus. On Monday, Wake County Public Health will begin doing the same.

There will be five county-operated clinics for children, including:

  • Wake County Public Health Center, 10 Sunnybrook Road, Raleigh
  • Wake County Human Services Center, 5809 Departure Drive, Raleigh
  • Wake County Northern Regional Center, 350 E. Holding Ave., Wake Forest
  • Wake County Southern Regional Center, 130 N. Judd Parkway NE, Fuquay-Varina
  • Wake County Eastern Regional Center, 1002 Dogwood Drive, Zebulon

The scaled-down dosage is in high demand. County officials said more than 1,500 appointments for children were originally available between the five vaccination clinics, but as of Sunday night, there were only 10 slots left.

Organizers said 160 children are expected to be vaccinated at the Sunnybrook Road site on Monday alone.

Still need a vaccine for your child? Thousands more doses will be available in the weeks to come, officials said. Wake County Public Health is also partnering with Wake County Public Schools and community groups and organizations to hold child vaccination events during the month of November.

Appointments are required for the vaccines offered through Wake County Public Health. Parents can pick a site and time that is convenient for them at WakeGov.com/kids. There is no cost, ID or insurance needed.

The two-shot series is given 21 days apart. Parents will be prompted to schedule their child's second dose at the first appointment.
