Wake County names new principals at Fuquay-Varina, Sanderson high schools

The Wake County Board of Education voted Tuesday to name four principals, including two interims, after a closed session meeting to discuss the personnel changes.

CARY, N.C. — The Wake County Board of Education voted Tuesday to name four principals, including two interims, after a closed session meeting to discuss the personnel changes.

The changes are as follows:

Principals

Freda Cole, who has been serving as interim principal at Apex Elementary School, will continue serving in that role. She has worked as an interim principal and assistant principal at various Wake County schools since 2012. She was principal at Forest Pines Elementary School in Raleigh from 2005-2012.
Allen Ellzey has been named interim principal at Fuquay-Varina Middle School. He has worked as an interim principal and assistant principal at various Wake County schools since 2018. He was principal at Apex Middle School from 2014-2017.
Gretta Dula has been named principal at Sanderson High School in Raleigh. She previously served as principal at Ligon Middle School in Raleigh from 2009-2019 and principal at Wildwood Forest Elementary School in Raleigh from 2006-2009. Dula was named as one of five finalists for Wake County Principal of the Year earlier this week.
Terrance McCotter has been named principal at Fuquay-Varina High School. He previously served as principal at Fuquay-Varina Middle School from 2016-2019 and assistant principal at Sanderson High School in Raleigh from 2013-2016.
