A Fuquay-Varina man won $2 million from a scratch off ticket, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.

Carmelo Canepa purchased the "Platinum" scratch-off ticket for $20 from the Circle Ticket on Louisburg Road in Raleigh and won the ticket's top prize.

Campena arrived at lottery headquarters Tuesday to claim his winnings.

Canepa chose the lump sum of $1.2 million, which after state and federal taxes, amounted to $855,006.

Platinum debuted in August, with four $2 million prizes and eight $100,000 prizes total.

Two of the four $2 million prizes and four $100,000 prizes still haven't been claimed.
