Wake County detention officer arrested for assault, sheriff's office says
A Wake County detention officer has been fired after he was charged in connection with an assault charge, the Wake County Sheriff's Office said Sunday.
Posted — UpdatedMarcus Hinnant, 26, of 5305 Wenesly Court, was being held at the Wake County Jail without bond after the charges were filed, the sheriff's office said in a written statement.
He was expected to make a first court appearance on Monday.
Hinnant was arrested Saturday night after allegedly assaulting a woman, the statement said.
It was not immediately clear if Hinnant knew the victim or where the assault occurred.
According to the statement, the termination was effective immediately.
