Wake County will hold a free "vaccine boot camp" Tuesday about how to have meaningful conversations with unvaccinated friends or family.

The boot camp is just another part of Wake County's effort to fight vaccine hesitancy.

Last week, the county health department started going door-to-door with coronavirus vaccines, offering the shot to people who live in neighborhoods identified as having a low vaccination rate.

In one week, they only gave out 15 shots.

Some residents in Wake County who were some of the first to get the vaccine told WRAL News they think these new efforts could improve the vaccination rate.

You can register online for the virtual boot camp. The first session starts at 6 p.m.

Other sessions include:

  • July 29, 6–8 p.m.
  • Aug. 10 & Aug. 12, 10 a.m.–noon
  • Aug. 24 & Aug. 26, 6–8 p.m.

According to the sign-up link, "each boot camp consists of two virtual sessions that will guide attendees on how to help others make informed decisions about protection from the virus."
