VP Mike Pence, Stacey Abrams, Jill Biden campaign in NC

Three political figures will be stopping in North Carolina on Saturday to campaign for the 2020 presidential election.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Three political figures will be stopping in North Carolina on Saturday to campaign for this year's presidential candidates.

Vice President Mike Pence will first stop in Elm City at around 12 p.m. and speak. Then, he will travel to Elizabeth City to deliver a second speech at 1:30 p.m.

While Pence is in Elizabeth City, Jill Biden, the wife of former Vice President and current Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden, will be in Charlotte hosting a drive-in rally. Jill Biden will be energizing North Carolina voters and encouraging people to cast their ballot on the final day of early voting.

After campaigning in Charlotte, Jill Biden will travel to Greensboro and speak at 3 p.m.

Stacey Abrams, voting rights activist and former Georgia politician, will be in Durham at around noon to campaign for Joe Biden. While in Durham, she plans to mobilize voters and march to the polls. She will then head to Raleigh to continue campaigning for Biden at around 3 p.m.

Abrams served in the Georgia House of Representatives or 10 years. She founded the organization Fair Fight Action to fight against voter suppression.

As we get closer to Election Day, both presidential candidates are ramping their campaign events. On Sunday, three more major political events are planned:

Kamala Harris, U.S. Senator and Democratic Vice Presidential nominee, will be in Fayetteville and Goldsboro.
Pence will travel to Boone and attend a Sunday worship service at Alliance Bible Fellowship with Rev. Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham.
President Donald Trump will be in Hickory at around 5 p.m.

Trump will also be in Fayetteville at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. He had to cancel his rally on Thursday night after Tropical Storm Zeta rolled across the state, producing wind gusts topping 50 mph.

Trump and Biden are in a dead heat in North Carolina, at 48 percent each, according to the results of a WRAL News poll. Two weeks ago, after Trump had a widely criticized first debate against Biden and was subsequently hospitalized with the virus, Biden held a 50-45 percent lead. Now with the president's troubles further in the rear-view mirror, the race has returned to the tie found in mid-September polling.

"It's such a pivotal state – literally the epicenter of the nation's attention," SurveyUSA Chief Executive Jay Leve said. "The [state's] 15 electoral votes are a key jewel in the president's crown if he's going to get to [needed] 270."
