Voting Begins for Wake Tech Nickname

College officials have asked people to vote for their favorite nickname at {{a href="external_link-1"}}www.waketech.edu{{/a}} through Friday.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Students, staff and supporters are invited to choose the nickname for Wake Technical Community College's new athletic teams. Voting began Friday in the "Name That Team" contest.

Nearly 500 students, staff, and faculty submitted suggestions during a three-week contest, and a committee narrowed the list down to six: Eagles, Wildcats, Warriors, Wings, Sparks and Ventures.

College officials have asked people to vote for their favorite nickname at www.waketech.edu through Friday. The winning name will be announced at a college pep rally on April 29.
