Vigil held for slain Durham man

Friends and relatives remembered on Saturday a Durham man who died this week after being injured during a fight in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 1315 Morreene Road.

DURHAM, N.C. — Friends and relatives remembered on Saturday a Durham man who died this week after being injured during a fight in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 1315 Morreene Road.

Officers were dispatched to a fight call at Chapel Towers Apartments at 7:38 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, they found a man who had been hit with a baseball bat and then run over by a vehicle.

The man, Humberto Reyes, 25, was taken to Duke University Hospital where he died Thursday evening, police said.

A vigil was held Saturday evening in Reyes' honor at the complex where he died.

No charges have been filed in Reyes' slaying, but investigators said they are following several leads.
