Classmates, friends and family gathered at Falls of Neuse and Spring Forest road, the intersection where Kaled, 9, and Basil Shahin, 7, were hit by a sport-utility vehicle April 2.
Supporters of the family said the vigil was not just for the boys, but for all pedestrians killed on unsafe roads.
Wafa Tamimi said she was taking her three children to the library when the boys ran ahead of her and their sister. Kaled was killed at the scene, and Basil died of his injuries a day later.
Police ruled the deaths accidental and did not charge the SUV's driver, Catherine Mary Biondi.
Kaled was a fourth grader at North Ridge Elementary School, and Basil, a second grader.
Their parents, devout Muslims from Jordan, credited their faith in God to helping them get through their son's deaths.
Neighbors have established a memorial trust fund in the name of the family to help the surviving children with their education.
