Yanceyville declares water supply emergency

Know that we own this it is it is a

major concern to us uh public health public safety uh

is at the front of our burner

Many in the Caswell County community are scrambling after the

town's water supply ran out Wednesday afternoon

The town buys and receives water from the city of

Danville Virginia which is dealing with the loss of water

pressure within its system

We got noticed uh sometime Monday morning uh just before

daybreak

Uh from Danville that their plant was shut down

What they thought would be a short lived thing turned

out to be a little longer than anticipated which meant

that we ended up running out of water

Yanceyville Mayor Alvin Foster says even when Danville didn't have

water they still had a little bit left but that

dwindled and he added after Tropical Storm Chantal came through

the county back in July they've had to deal with

various water challenges leaving the town to be on the

emergency water line linking up to Danville

Our water plant was compromised by the tropical storm

It looked like chocolate milk

It compromised the filters at our water plant

Now officials say they're working around the clock to ensure

the safety of the community with water distribution centers around

town

That's the main thing to make sure that water is

safe for people to consume you know if you make

an error you err on the side of caution
