'Shocks the conscience:' Police captain speaks on 5 people found shot to death in Sampson County home

As I stated around 12:41 a.m. This morning we received

a 911 call stating that the individual discovered five bodies

in a residence 10,003 10 G highway

Um The caller had spoken to one of the victims

around 11 pm when they stopped at the residence they

discovered the bodies

Um We have four males and one female ranging from

mid thirties to the eighties uh various racial ethnic background

black white and Hispanic

We are trying to identify the family members that we

can do next of kin

This time we don't have any indication of the connection

between the individuals and the residents

At this time we're still trying to establish that as

well

And and what we were just starting to talk about

is just the the shock that this is having for

this community to wake up to news like this

Uh and just talk about the it is disturbing to

to talk about something like this

It is um anytime you have a murder in and

of itself it is a shock to the conscience

But when you have five victims in connection down the

road Clinton Police Department has their own investigation to the

incident going you know people in Sampson County are waking

up this morning wondering what's going on

This is not normal for our community

It should be it's not normal for any community and

it should shock the conscience and we hope that somebody

out there who knows at least call us and give

us the information that we need so that we can

bring these people to justice

And just to be clear what's happening in Clinton with

that police department not related to this particular investigation

But can you speak to where you guys are at

right now The sheriff's office and trying to figure out

a suspect or some sort of connection with these five

our investigators the State Bureau of Investigation and the uh

forensic medical examiner own scene trying to establish piece the

facts together and what we heard on the scene

We were doing interviews with nearby residents who may or

may not have heard anything security investigation resource and additional

resources to come in because of the individuals involved

So it's going to be a long and thorough process

and nothing about this is obviously normal and having the

FBI join in on this investigation

resource to local law enforcement and you know providing additional

resources and equipment that we would not normally have access

to

So they play a key role in this in the

system
