five on your side has learned Pink energy is out

of business

It was just yesterday our team reported the home solar

energy company has been dealing with some fallout from thousands

of systems that don't work

Wrl keely Arthur is here now with the major developments

that happened overnight keely well shortly after our story aired

we started getting emails and calls from peak energy customers

and employees claiming the company had shut down yesterday

We told you about frustrated customers who said they're pink

solar panels worth tens of thousands of dollars didn't work

Now

Pink blames the problem on a specific part made by

a separate company Generac

Today

Five on your side obtained this letter It tells employees

that the company was closing immediately because of a drastic

decline in sales and other financial difficulties

A little over a week ago we interviewed Pink Ceo

Jason Waller about customer concerns and asked if his company

could survive but if I'm out of business who are

they going to call to fix this They're calling Generac

right That's what it's very possible

So it's unclear whether Waller knew that his company was

closing during our interview

But two days before the interview Pink sent this letter

to north Carolina's Department of Commerce saying they'd shut down

a facility outside of charlotte that employed 500 people

Those employees didn't get the required 60 day notice that

they were being laid off with Pink claiming they quote

were experiencing unforeseeable circumstances

The north Carolina Attorney General's office told five on your

side they are aware of the letter and have reached

out to Pink with questions

Now we've reached out to Pink with questions as well

and we're also trying to kind of learn where this

leaves customers who are already very frustrated

Where does it leave a lot of people That interview

is pretty telling as well

It was interesting to see that All right keely thank

you so much
