CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Authorities with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are investigating a video that appears to show a person climbing up a dorm outside campus.

The video posted online shows a person climbing to the top of a building, claiming it is at Granville Towers.

The video showed up Tuesday on Instagram and quickly became viral. Students have been tagging each other in the post, trying to figure out who climbed the building.

There are three different buildings that are part of Granville Towers, so students are not sure exactly where the incident occurred.

Students said they’re less concerned about security and more in awe of the athletic ability of whoever apparently climbed the building.

“I’m impressed more than anything,” said one student who didn’t want to be identified. “There’s grates on the stairwell, so it’s not like he could get into the stairwell. There’s just climbing the grate.”

“I’ve seen some people do some dangerous things, but never scaling a dorm room or dorm tower,” student Jabril Rice said.

The university issued a statement Tuesday saying “we cannot confirm the authenticity of the video at this time. UNC Police and Student Affairs are aware and are looking into this matter. The safety of our students is the university’s top priority.”
