Camp Lejeune, N.C. — Authorities released the names Sunday of an infant child and mother who died after fire struck their home on Camp Lejeune Friday afternoon.
Tara L. Lampman, 22, and her 6-month-old daughter, Lexi, were inside their Midway Park duplex at about 2:30 p.m. when the fire started.
Both were taken to the Naval Hospital on Camp Lejeune, where Lexi Lampman died Friday. Tara Lampman was transferred to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, where she died Saturday afternoon.
They are survived by Corporal Christopher B. Lampman, a Marine data network specialist. He was not at home when the fire broke out.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation, authorities said.
