Victim shot, suspect in custody after attempted carjacking in Durham

Durham police said an attempted carjacking resulted in one person shot and a suspect in custody.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police said an attempted carjacking resulted in one person shot and a suspect in custody.

The incident happened Thursday at around 1:15 p.m. at a tobacco store at 3825 S. Roxboro St. The victim drove away from the scene after being shot, initially heading to the hospital. While driving, the person saw an ambulance at a gas station and asked for help. They were then rushed to the hospital.

Durham police said one person is in custody. The victim had a non-life threatening injury and was expected to recover.
