Authorities on Wednesday identified a man who died Tuesday afternoon when a small plane crashed in northern Durham County.

The Beechcraft Travel Air 95, which took off on a runway at Falls Lake, went down around 12:25 p.m. near Bahama.

Michael John Ratty, of Chapel Hill, died.

Another person, whom authorities haven't identified, was injured in the crash and was taken to a local hospital.

It's unclear what caused the plane to go down. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Bureau are investigating.A
