WAKE FOREST, N.C. — It was a busy night at Norse Brewing as crowds enjoyed a Thursday evening out.

Sprinkled in this pack were those who served our country, like veteran Amy Johnson.

“I was a signal officer I served in Korea in Fort Hood ,Texas,” Johnson said.

Dillon Brawner, who works at Norse, also dedicated his time to protect our nation.

“I served in the navy for five years from 2014-2019. Harry S Truman,” Brawner said.

On Veteran's Day this year, anyone who holds the title of veteran was offered up the full menu at no cost.

“They are the reason America is what it is. What other country you can start a business and see it this successful in two years?” said Joe Gosselin, brew pub director at Norse Brewing.

Fort Bragg and Camp Lejune in North Carolina have more than 70,000 service members.

Each service member who spoke with WRAL News said they were honored to serve.

“Serving this great country is something I always wanted and aspired to do," Johnson said. "I accomplished that, and met amazing people."

Around the Triangle, restaurants offer up all kinds of freebies to show appreciation, and some vets say they got the message.

“Regardless of whether a meal is free, we feel the love today,” Johnson said.

Norse Brewing just doesn’t feed veterans for free on Veterans Day, but also on Memorial Day.
