Vehicle flips on I-40, lanes closed during cleanup, investigation

A vehicle flipped during a wreck on eastbound Interstate 40, near Interstate 87 in Wake County, on Sunday. That forced three of four lanes to be closed.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A vehicle flipped during a wreck on eastbound Interstate 40, near Interstate 87 in Wake County, on Sunday. That forced three of four lanes to be closed.

The incident happened shortly after 9 p.m. near Rock Quarry Road. Troopers with the State Highway Patrol said at least one person was injured and taken to a local hospital.

The area was opened up to traffic again late Sunday night after officials cleaned up the wreck and conducted an investigation into the cause of the wreck.
