Vandals target woman's Black Lives Matter sign, home
A woman says she's been antagonized for months because of her support for BLM, and it has recently escalated.
hate has no home here, but Beverly Grimmett worries. Hates May still live in her Lafayette residents Park neighborhood. It makes me sick. E don't understand people's lack of empathy. Her new assign comes in response to what she describes as months of targeted attacks aimed at her black lives. Matter. Yard sign. I ordered a sign and put it in the yard, and that was in the beginning of the summer. And pretty soon after, um, bags of dog poop started getting left next to it nine different times, she says about once a week since June. And then Monday, she says, things escalated. We went to leave to go to work, and I saw spray paint on that side of my truck and I took a step back. Someone spray painted the all lives matter acronym on the side of her work truck and slashed her front tire. Then when I got the work in my regular vehicle, we got out and saw the word killer written on the front of that one. That's all. In addition to the black lives matter, sign being spray painted over. I don't understand why people can't embrace what black lives matter means and why it's so important to us and how you can't how you can't step outside of yourself and see everyone like you. That's not you. She's stepping up her home security and hopes whoever is responsible is caught and forced to explain themselves. The Onley opposition to black lives. Matter is black lives don't matter. And is that what you're really saying? And I wanted to say it to my face and explain it to me. Neighborhood supporters air pledging to give Grimmett more signs toe add to her lawn. In the meantime, she says she won't be intimidated. I'm not leaving and my signs not coming down.
