A grand jury indicted a 25-year-old Virginia man for a rape investigated by Southern Pines police.

<b>SOUTHERN PINES, N.C.</b> — <strong>Editor's Note: Charges against Cohrs were voluntarily dismissed in 2014 and his record was expunged in October 2017.</strong>

Philip Duncan Cohrs, 25, of 21216 McFayden Square #106 in Sterling, Va., surrendered to Southern Pines police Thursday. Corhs faces one charge of second-degree rape.

Police received a report about the rape on July 1. After an investigation, a Moore County grand jury indicted Cohrs.

Cohrs was being held in the Wake County Jail under a $15,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for Nov. 17.

Police say a woman was shot in the upper thigh while two men inside the home were arguing. EMS stabilized the woman and took her to ECU Health in Greenville. Both men suffered gunshot wounds during the altercation.
