Multiple emergency crews responded Wednesday to a small plane crash at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Minor injuries were reported, according to radio traffic.

SHORTAGE WAS TO BLAME. THERE ARE FACING A NUMBER OF ISSUES AS THE HOLIDAYS APPROACH. >> Reporter: STAFFING SHORTAGES, AND A CHANGE IN HOW AMERICANS USE THE MAIL, THAT IS WHAT USPS IS UP AGAINST. ONE ROCKY MOUNT NEIGHBORHOOD SAYS THEY ARE ALREADY SEEING THE IMPACT. >> MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, NOTHING. >> HE SAYS STARTING OCTOBER EIGHTH HIS ROCKY MOUNT NEIGHBORHOOD DIDN'T GET ANY MAIL DELIVERED FOR THE NEXT SEVEN STRAIGHT DAYS. I WENT AROUND THE CORNER AND TALK TO MY OTHER NEIGHBORS. >> HE EVENTUALLY GOT THE PHONE NUMBER FOR THE POST OFFERS CARRIER TO ASK WHERE HIS MAIL WAS. HE WAS HUNG UP ON EACH TIME HE CALLED. >> I CALLED BACK AGAIN AND HE FINALLY GOT AROUND TO SAYING WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH CARRIERS TO BRING THE MAIL. >> THE POST OFFICE TOLD HIM MY DRIVER SHORTAGE WAS KEEPING THEM FROM KEEPING THE MAIL, AND ISSUED THE RETIRED VIETNAM VETERAN HAS NEVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE. >> EVERYBODY HAS GOT PROBLEMS. GAS IS UP, GROCERIES HER UP, EVERYTHING IS UP BUT THE MAIL IS SUPPOSED TO COME WHEN THE MAIL IS SUPPOSED TO COME. >> THEY DIRECTED US TO THE POSTAL SERVICES STATEWIDE OFFICE IN CHARLOTTE. A SPOKESPERSON SAYS USPS HAS SEEN EXTRAORDINARILY CHALLENGES NATIONWIDE DUE TO COVID-19. THE POSTAL SERVICE IS MISSING A CHANGE IN TRENDS WITH A HUGE INCREASE IN PACKAGE DELIVERIES AND A DRAMATIC DECLINE IN LETTER MAILED. WITH THE HOLIDAYS APPROACHING, THE POSTAL SERVICE AS IT IS IN THE PROCESS OF HIRING 40,000 ADDITIONAL WORKERS TO HELP MANAGE THE PEAK SHIPPING SEASON. A meteorologist, Elizabeth Gardner, I'm tracking a front that is going to bring us some scattered light rain today. This is not going to be a big beefy line of thunderstorms by any means, no thunder and the rain will be pretty light as it moves on through. Starting to see some of that in our northern counties this morning, we'll follow futurecast and push it ahead to lunchtime and you can see it's a slow mover, but there's not going to be a whole lot of rain with it from Roanoke Rapids down through Durham at around lunchtime as we head into say, two or three o'clock in the afternoon. Rocky Mount May a little bit in Raleigh and down towards Southern Pines and then closer to the evening commute, Fayetteville, Clinton, Goldsboro, parts of Harnett and Johnston counties. But it looks like for the most part, um, our most heavily traveled roads in, uh, in the triangle should be dry by the evening commute. That front continues to move on through and it clears this out with sunshine for the rest of the work week. Lake Gaston looking cloudy right now with the clouds there and, uh, the rain starting to push in. Temperatures have been in the mid fifties this morning, we'll climb on up into the upper six is closer to lunchtime and then, uh, we'll continue to see those nice mild temperatures this afternoon. 74 in Raleigh and Durham, 81 potentially for the high in Fayetteville. Later today, the Durham Bulls continue their home stand. It looks like the rains out of there. Well, before their 630 start time, 71 degrees at six o'clock, 630 Thursday and Friday. Lots of sunshine and pleasant temperatures continue near 70. I mean, it just doesn't really get much better than that. And weekend events look great, especially Saturday. This is bral, a big event in downtown Raleigh. Temperatures will be in the mid seventies during the afternoon, under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. So looking good. Definitely a mild week up until Saturday. Our normal high is 75 and we're close to that, but 81 on Sunday, that's going to be the beginning of a different weather pattern. 81 on Sunday does not get us to a record. The record is 90. But by Tuesday when we hit 89 we'll only be a degree from the record. So we are aiming toward record highs by the end of the seven day forecast, which is right now on Tuesday and it looks dry too today, really our best chance of rain and it will be light less than 1/10 of an inch.
