NASHVILLE, N.C. — U.S. Highway 64 in Nash County was closed for almost six hours Monday after a tractor trailer carrying a load of UPS packages overturned.

The crash occurred around 3 a.m. near Exit 463 for North Old Carriage Road east of Nashville, and both eastbound lanes were closed between Exit 461 and Exit 463.

Crews were pulling UPS packages from the overturned truck to put them on another delivery truck until 7:15 a.m. After the packages were transferred, crews got the truck upright and readied for its removal.

By 9 a.m., the truck had been cleared from the road, and all lanes had reopened.

Officials on the scene said the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital complaining of chest pain but is expected to be fine.
