CARY, N.C. — A crash involving five vehicles on U.S. Highway 1 has caused northbound lanes to be shut down near Exit 98 A on Saturday morning.

First responders could be seen responding to the crash, which was near a bridge by the exit for Tryon Road and U.S. Highway 64.

At least one vehicle went down the embankment, and at least one person was sent to the hospital.

Across town, a second truck also overturned on the ice – this crash was on Western Boulevard.

Until temperatures raise from below-freezing this morning, drivers are urged to use caution and keep an eye out for potential slick spots.
