RALEIGH, N.C.Update: This event has been postponed.
Here's a message from the art museum: In light of Governor Cooper’s state of emergency declaration and recommendations regarding large gatherings, the Duke Energy Family Day: Ancient Art Adventures scheduled for Sunday, March 15, has been postponed. Those with questions should email help@ncartmuseum.org or call (919) 715-5923 during regular Museum hours.

The N.C. Museum of Art's next family day is this weekend.

Family Day: Ancient Art Adventures runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, March 15, in the museum's east and west building. Museum goers will view the exhibition Bacchus Conservation Project: The Story of a Sculpture to learn about behind-the-scenes discoveries from scientists and conservators. An Ancient Art Career Fair will feature an artist, curator, engineer and conservator.

Here's a description:

Designed for intergenerational audiences, Family Day introduces the big ideas behind the Bacchus project through age-appropriate activities across the two museum buildings. Visitors can discover all things mythical in Greek and Roman art through hands-on art making, living sculpture, ancient hairstyling demonstrations, and a scavenger hunt. The event fosters close looking at the exhibition as well as making connections with the museum’s additional holdings in classical art.

Archaeologist Janet Stephens will demonstrate those ancient Roman hairstyles at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. And there will be a living statue activation from Imagine Circus.

It's free, and no tickets are required.
