Union County infant found safe after Amber Alert

An infant girl from Union County was found safe early Saturday shortly after an Amber Alert for her was issued, authorities said.

MARSHVILLE, N.C. — An infant girl from Union County was found safe early Saturday shortly after an Amber Alert for her was issued, authorities said.

The alert for 5-month-old Ashuari Nyashia Rushing, of Marshville, was issued at midnight Friday and canceled around 2 a.m. Saturday.

Marshville police said that Ashuari was found unharmed.

Her alleged abductor – identified as her mother, 23-year-old Melissa Ann Rushing – had not been located early Saturday, police said. She was last seen driving a green Ford Explorer with a North Carolina license plate.

More details about the alleged abduction have not been released.
