Uncle of Fayetteville 2-year-old who died of self-inflicted gunshot wound facing charges

The uncle of a 2-year-old from Fayetteville who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in September was charged on Thursday with involuntary manslaughter.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The uncle of a 2-year-old from Fayetteville who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in September was charged on Thursday with involuntary manslaughter.

Selassie McIntosh-Breedlove, 21, of the 600 block of Mosswood Lane, was also charged by homicide detectives with failure to properly secure a firearm to protect a minor. He was processed at the Cumberland County jail and received a $20,000 unsecured bond.

The 2-year-old, who was not identified, grabbed a gun and shot himself on Sept. 16, Fayetteville police said. He died on Sept. 19.
