Uncle Charged With Kidnapping Children
A Moore County man was charged Monday in connection with the abduction of two children on Sunday, authorities said.
Posted — UpdatedMichael Lee Gillis, 21, of 421 Rollins Road in Vass, was charged with two counts of felonious restraint and abduction of children. He was being held in the Moore County Detention Center on a $20,000 secured bond.
A Vass woman called authorities Sunday to report that her 5- and 7-year-old children had been kidnapped by their uncle, who had been watching the children at her house. Moore County deputies stopped the man's pickup truck a few hours later on N.C. Highway 690 and returned the children to their mother, authorities said.
