— A University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student told campus police Friday that a man tried to sexually assault her, according to the school's public safety department.

The woman, whose name was not released, told officers that a dark-skinned black man, who was bald and about 35 to 40 years old, approached her as she walked along campus around 3:30 a.m. Friday.

She said the man pushed her down near the sundial in front of the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center and that she was able to escape unharmed, according to UNC police. She said the man ran away and never showed a weapon.

The student reported the alleged incident to UNC police more than eight hours later, around 11:50 a.m.
