CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Campus police at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill said they arrested a male student who broke into two apartments early Sunday, apparently looking for a place to sleep.

In a message on the “Alert Carolina” notification system, police said they went to a second-floor apartment at Granville Towers West about 2 a.m. and spoke with a female student who said she awoke to find the man asleep in her bed. She asked him to leave, and he did without incident.

Police said the unidentified man then went into the room of another female resident and tried to lie down in her bed. He was again told to leave.

The suspect tried to enter several more rooms on the same hall before campus police officers arrested him on two counts of breaking and entering. He was held at the Orange County jail on a secured bond.
