Roy Williams and Mike Krzyzewski are all for having a commission that is basketball specific.

In late April, the Rice Commission released a long list of recommendations designed to make basketball better -- the Hall of Fame coaches want to see that continue.

"The recommendations that they came forth with I think they are all great, great ideas. (As for) how workable some of them are... you have to get other people to cooperate," Williams said.

"I’d like to see the commission stay a commission for a while because we’re having more movement at a time there hasn’t been as much movement," Krzyzewski said. "Maybe we can correct a lot of these things. I think it was a good step, it was a really good step."

There are complaints about the lack of monetary benefits college athletes have, but Williams and Krzyzewski point to recent improvements in that area.

"Student athletes are a lot better off today than they were three years ago, 10 years ago, 15 years ago with the cost of attendance and the different things you can do with the meals," Williams said.

"It’s changed dramatically for all student athletes," Krzyzewski said. "Just the one thing with cost of attendance, it’s a huge, huge thing. In some respects it’s paying your athletes."

In addition to the Rice Commision Report, last week's Knight Commission was a platform where the mother of former Duke star Wendell Carter Jr. expressed her displeasure with the system.

"Because she used the word slavery, you have to be careful," Krzyzewski said. "No one could hopefully simulate what that word means. But her points were overall were very well taken."
