Ukrainian ambassador to the U.S. Oksana Markarova wrote a letter in October to thank Capitol Broadcasting Company for its support of the county in its fight for freedom.

Markarova wrote the letter to CBC COO Jimmy Goodmon on Oct. 3.

“From turning the American Tobacco Historic District in Durham into a Ukraine Support zone, to flying blue and yellow colors alongside America’s stars and stripes, to hosting Ukraine Night at the iconic Durham Bulls Athletic Park to celebrate Ukraine and its 31st Independence Anniversary – the people of Ukraine are grateful for your support,” Markarova wrote.

In Markarova’s letter, she referenced the Aug. 24 Ukraine Night at the Durham Bulls event. She thanked the Ukrainians in the Carolinas, a North Carolina nonprofit that has helped the European country for the past eight years.

“I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to your terrific team who make Ukraine Night possible!” Markarova wrote.

Markarova also wrote that she hopes for the Durham Bulls to visit Ukraine.

In February, Russia began its invasion of Ukraine.
