If you’ve ever gone on a diet or just tried to eat healthier, you know how difficult it can be to avoid your favorite foods. Whether it’s pizza, ice cream or all things fried, cutting them out is not easy.
If fried chicken tops your list of must-haves, however, you’re in luck. Tyson Foods has a brand new air-fried chicken they say has around 75% less fat than traditional fried chicken! The new Tyson Air Fried Chicken Breast products are available nationwide as strips, fillets, and nuggets. Each is made with real, all-white meat chicken and no antibiotics.
Calling this “the best thing to happen to fried chicken … since fried chicken,” Tyson noted that these fully-cooked products are guilt-free and do not require an air fryer to heat. Air fryers use circulated air to cook food, so they require less oil than deep-fried versions and are considered healthier.
“The first of its kind, fully-cooked Tyson Air Fried Chicken was created with both taste and convenience in mind,” said Colleen Hall, director of marketing for Tyson, in a press release. “We air fry it for you, so just heat it in the oven for an easy dinner or snack the whole family can enjoy.”
One serving of the Air Fried Chicken Breast Strips is 150 calories with 13 grams of carbs, 16 grams of protein and four grams of fat. For the Air Fried Chicken Breast Filets, you’ll get 180 calories with 15 grams of carbs, 20 grams of protein and 4.5 grams of fat. The Air Fried Chicken Nuggets offer 160 grams of fat, 15 grams of carbs, 15 grams of protein and four grams of fat. Tyson says the chicken, however, still has the tastiness of regular fried chicken with simply seasoned, crispy golden breading.
When you cook, you’ll just preheat the oven, spray a baking pan with vegetable oil and place the frozen chicken on the pan. Baking temperatures and times vary depending on if you’re cooking strips, patties or nuggets, but all are done in less than 30 minutes. You can also microwave the nuggets.
To celebrate the new chicken, Tyson is holding a giveaway with a pretty unique prize — a plate that actually levitates! Now through Nov. 7, you can enter for a chance to win an Air Plate package, which comes with a levitating plate, a package of Tyson Air Fried Chicken Breast Strips, and Tyson-branded dining accessories, including a napkin and a ramekin to hold your favorite dipping sauce.
The company announced the product and the contest on Twitter this week:
Fifteen winners will be chosen in a random drawing. To enter, just tweet using the hashtag “#TysonAirPlateSweepstakes’ and comment on how the dining kit will “elevate” your next meal. You can read the official rules by visiting Tyson’s website.
If you would rather make your own air fryer chicken, this recipe for Perfect Air Fryer Chicken Breast from Skinnytaste actually has no breading, so it is low carb enough to be considered Keto. Of course, you will also need to invest in an air fryer, so making your own will obviously take a lot more work than buying it frozen.
