RALEIGH, N.C. — The Wake County Sheriff’s Office has identified a body found at an electrical substation Sunday as Tyrell Cohen.

Cohen was reported missing on Saturday night after he didn't come home.

The 25-year-old is the brother of NFL running back and former NC A&T and Bunn High School star, Tarik Cohen.

Tarik Cohen has talked about the search for his twin brother in recent social media posts.

Shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday, Wake County Sheriff Gerald Baker stated that deputies responded to the Duke Power substation near Lead Mine and Six Forks roads, after an employee discovered the body of a man inside the substation’s perimeter. It’s believed Cohen died of electrocution while attempting to climb some of the equipment.

Cohen's family and friends are having a hard time wrapping their heads around his death.

"All around, he was truly a beautiful person," a family friend told WRAL.

The family friend says this behavior isn’t like Tyrell.

"Don't try to color my boy bad, because he's not here to defend himself," the friend said.

A spokesperson with the Wake County Sheriff’s Office told WRAL Cohen was involved in a single-car crash near I-540 and Six Forks Road at 2 a.m. Saturday.

Officers with Raleigh Police Department say he ran from the scene and investigators could not find him.

They continued their search Sunday morning after family members filed a police report when Cohen didn’t return home.

The Chicago Bears issued a statement late Sunday night, offering condolences to the Cohen family.

“We are heartbroken to learn of the death of Tarik Cohen’s twin brother, Tyrell," the statement said. "Our immediate thoughts and prayers go out to Tarik, his mother, Tilwanda, and the rest of their family and loved ones. On behalf of the entire Bears family, we extend our most heartfelt sympathies to all who mourn his loss.”

Duke Energy spokesperson Jeff Brooks said Cohen's death was tragic and their agency is working with law enforcement to help their investigation.

"Substations contain high electric voltages and should only be accessed by highly trained personnel with authorized access," Brooks said. "Our stations are equipped with robust fencing, safety signage and other measures to protect the public and to deter trespassing and access to equipment inside the substation."

Foul play is not suspected. Cohen leaves behind a longtime girlfriend of nearly nine years and two daughters, ages 3 and 7.
