Two women shot in Sanford

Two women found in a vehicle early Saturday had been shot, Sanford police said.

SANFORD, N.C. — Two women found in a vehicle early Saturday had been shot, Sanford police said.

Officers responded to calls about a shooting discovered the women in a vehicle at Hickory Avenue and Seventh Street shortly before 2:30 a.m.

One woman had been shot in the chest, and the other in the chest and right arm, investigators said. One victim was airlifted to WakeMed in Raleigh, and the second to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Police said they continued to investigate the shooting.
