<b>WENDELL, N.C.</b> — Two people were killed in an early morning crash on Interstate 87 near Exit 11 for Wendell Falls Parkway.

Two vehicles collided head-on Friday morning before 2:30 a.m., according to the State Highway Patrol.

A white SUV was going the wrong way in the southbound lanes. Both drivers were traveling at 70 mph and died on impact.

Officials said the drivers were women but did not release their names.
