Two-vehicle crash kills one, injures two others

— A crash involving two vehicles Saturday morning in Fayetteville killed one person and injured two others.

Fayetteville police responded to the crash along Hay Street at Robeson Street at 9:40 a.m. Investigators said the crash caused one of the vehicles to roll over. Two of the passengers in the vehicle driven by Martika Roper, 30, were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle also went to the hospital, where they died. Police identified the driver as Marvin Sykes, 90, of Eastover.

Fayetteville police remained on the scene conducting an investigation and collecting evidence at the scene for about several hours after the crash.
